1) NAIROBI
At the Headquarters building on a project to modernize the building's interiors comprising upgrading of its finishes, furniture and associated building services. The main scope of works comprises builders' works by a Main Building Contractor in conjunction with sub-constructors and suppliers for specialist works comprising Electrical, Plumbing & Drainage, Structured Cabling and Air-conditioning services.
2) MOMBASA
The work involves reconstruction of a residential house in Nyali, Mombasa as a modern house with superior finishes including landscaping works, improvement of the existing driveway, storm water drainage system, existing swimming pool and treatment plant, water storage facilities, erection of a secure perimeter fence with alarm system and associated Electrical /Air-conditioning services.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidates should have the following attributes:
- Be a holder of Higher National Diploma in Construction (Structures) or Be a holder of Higher National Diploma in Building and Civil Engineering or
- Be a holder of Higher National Diploma in Civil and Building Technology from a recognised/ accredited Technical Institution and specialised in Building Technology and Services, Technical Drawing, Material and Building Technology, Surveying, Workshop Technology, Building Science & Structures, Civil Engineering and general administration skills
- Have a minimum seven (7) years working experience in the position of Clerk of Works on projects of similar nature
- Have good communication skills, with good command of English language (both written and spoken)
- Be within the age bracket of 30 - 40 years Be computer literate Have excellent demeanour and interpersonal skills
- Be able to work with minimum supervision and under pressure Be of unquestionable character, integrity, and honesty

My job of Clerk of Works requires me to inspect the laying and backfilling of storm and foul sewers Within the adoptable highway, the construction of the carriageway and footways, prior to adoption, ensuring that all of works carried out, have been completed to the specified standards for section 38 and 278 works that have been set out by Coventry City Council in their Design Guide.
My job as supervisor requires me to oversee term contactors carrying out concrete and brick, bridge and culvert repairs. Being Confined space trained enables me enter culverts to supervise works or Carrey out inspections.
WELDON PLANT LTD: SUPERVISOR/ASSISTING ENGINEER AUG 2002-OCT 2002
My duties as supervisor required me to supervise the setting out of traffic management, the laying and backfilling of a storm water sewer and a foul sewer.
My duties as an assisting engineer included checking the levels on pipes laid, and to assist the senior engineer with setting out.
OPTILAN T.M.G LTD :CLERK OF WORKS/ PART-TIME PLANNER MAY00-AUG 2002
Initially recruited as Clerk of Works but due to works not starting was given the role of Planner. I was involved in planning and risk assessing a route survey consisting of two fibre optic rings in Derby and Coventry in order to connect telephone exchanges plus planning and surveying routes in three cities for a network of CCTV cameras.
As Clerk of Works I was required to supervise and carry out site audits, on digging gangs, box building gangs and re-instatement gangs.
The job entailed fibre optic joint surveys, supervising of cable/ sub-ducting gangs working in the highway and on various canals throughout the UK and finely the checking of the as-built drawings at the end of each job.
Some experience has been gained in the submitting of section 74 opening and closing notices to the Council.
HASWELL CONSULTING ENGINEERS: REHAB SUPERVISOR PHASE 2 JUN99-MAY00
Supervised open cut gangs working on excavation of trenches to lay new water mains. Backfilling, compaction and reinstatement. Supervised mains bursting gangs who’s task it was to pull a new main trough the existing this known as bursting. There was a number of service laying gangs to supervise, the inspection of any signing, lighting and guarding that was required.
Administrative duties, measure logs and daily diaries leading to a weekly report. Experience of compiling bill of quantity sheets for payment.
