VACANCIES IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND SANITATION
PUBLIC HEALTH TECHNICIAN III-TWENTY THREE (23)
(DEPARTMENT OF CURATIVE AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES
Salary Scale: KShs. 13,733 - KShs. 17,527p.m. (Job Group 'G')
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:
(i) have Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Mean grade C-(minus) or its equivalent qualification with at least a C in Biology and English or Kiswahili and a C- in any other two (2) science subjects; and
(ii) successfully completed a two (2) years pre-service training at a recognized medical training institution or any other recognized training institute and been awarded the Public Health Technician Certificate.
Duties and Responsibilities
This will be the entry and training grade into the Public Health Technician cadre. An officer at this level will work under the supervision and guidance of a more experienced Officer.
Duties will involve participation in immunization programmes; inspection of homesteads, villages and shopping centres; siting of compost pits for refuse disposal; siting of pit latrines in homesteads and villages and supervising their construction; inspection of springs and wells to ensure they are properly maintained and protected as safe sources of drinking water; and siting of grain stores and giving advice on vectors and rodents control.
NUTRITION OFFICER HI - FOUR - (4) POSTS
(DEPARTMENT OF CURATIVE AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES)
Salary Scale: KShs. 16,692 - KShs.20,289p.m (Job Group 'H')
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
(i) Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade C (plain) with C in English or Kiswahili and Biology or Biological Sciences, C- in any two (2) of the following subjects; Home Science, Food and Nutrition, Agriculture, Chemistry or Mathematics; and
(ii) completed three (3) years training at a Medical Training Centre or any other recognized training institution and been awarded a Diploma in Nutrition or its approved equivalent.
Duties and Responsibilities
This is the entry grade for Diploma holders and the officer will work under guidance and supervision of a more senior officer.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
(i) planning, monitoring, implementing and evaluating specific nutrition projects in the community;
(ii) sensitizing and working with community workers particularly in Agriculture, social services. Education and other agencies to help them understand more of the nutrition problems in the community and advocate actions for improvement; and
(iii) supervise staff working under him/her.
