Ministry of Agriculture Job Advertisements

1. SENIOR SUPPORT STAFF/CLEANING SUPERVISOR III, JOB GROUP 'D (100 POSTS) V/NO. 1/2008
TERMS OF SERVICE: TEMPORARY

REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT
For appointment to the grade of Senior Support Staff/Cleaning Supervisor III Job Croup 'D; a candidate must-CD Be a holder of Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) Division IV or Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) Mean Grade 'D1 (Plain).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties of Support Staff involve carrying out miscellaneous services which include; delivery of mail, maintenance of cleanliness of offices and any other sanitary duties as may be assigned.

2. SUPPORT STAFF III, JOB GROUP 'A' (50 POSTS) V/NO. 2/2008
TERMS OF SERVICE: TEMPORARY
SALARY SCALE: KSH.7619x100-7719x140-7859x180-8039 P.M.
REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT
For appointment to the grade of Support Staff III Job Croup 'A' a candidate
must-
(i) Be able to read and write in English and Kiswahili.

3. COOK III, JOB GROUP 'D' (12 POSTS) V/NO. 3/2008
TERMS OF SERVICE: PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE SALARY SCALE: KSH.8819x438-9257x464-9721 P.M.
REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT
For appointment to the grade of Cook III, Job Croup 'D' a candidate must-
(i) Have a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Mean Grade D (Plain) or its approved equivalent; and
(ii) Have a Certificate in Food and Beverage from utalii College or any other recognized Institution will have an added advantage.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A Cook III will be on the job training and will perform a variety of routine tasks including preparation and cooking of foods following standard practices and procedures. Duties include; cutting and washing raw foods, using appropriate tools and equipments and doing the actual cooking of food. He/she will also alert a senior Cook to problems or defects concerning equipments, food supplies and other unusual conditions.

4. PLANT OPERATOR III, JOB GROUP 'D' (46 POSTS) V/NO. a/2008
TERMS OF SERVICE: PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE
I, Job Croup 'D' a candidate
SALARY SCALE: KSH.8819x438-9257x464-9721 P.M. REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT
For appointment to the grade of Plant Operator I
must-
(i) Have a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Mean Grade 'D' (Plain) or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
(ii) Have passed the Suitability Test for Plant Operators Grade III;
(iii) Possess a valid driving licence free from current endorsements for class(es) of machine(s) that one may be required to operate;
(iv) Be able to operate at least two (2) plants of 'difficult rating' C;
(v) Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John Ambulance or the Kenya institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution; and
(vi) Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is an entry and training grade for Plant Operators. Duties and responsibilities at this level entail operating machines of 'difficult rating' C, assisting machine attendants in identifying possible breakdowns, liaising with mechanics for servicing, making daily and weekly oil checks and maintaining the cleanliness of the plants.

5. DRIVER III, JOB GROUP 'D' (100 POSTS) V/NO. 5/2008
TERMS OF SERVICE: PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE SALARY SCALE: KSH.8819x438-9257x464-9721 P.M.
Job Croup 'D' a candidate must
REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT
For appointment to the grade of Driver have:-
(i) Kenya Certificate of secondary Education Mean Grade D (Plain) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
(ii) A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for class(es) or vehicle(s) an officer is required to drive;
(iii) Attended a First Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week at St. John Ambulance or Kenya institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution;
(iv) Passed Suitability Test for Driver Grade III;
(v) Passed Practical Test for Drivers conducted by the respective Ministry/Department;
(vi) A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police; and
(vii) At least two (2) years driving experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is the entry grade into the Driver's cadre. Duties and responsibilities at this level will involve driving a motor vehicle as authorized; carrying out routine checks on the vehicle's cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure, etc.; detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems; maintenance of work tickets for vehicles assigned; ensuring security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road; safety of the passengers and/or goods therein; and maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.

6. SECURITY WARDEN HI JOB GROUP 'D' (2 POSTS) V/N0.6/2008
TERMS OF SERVICE: PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE SALARY SCALE: KSH.8819x438-9257x464-9721 P.M.
REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT
For appointment to this grade a candidate must-
(i) Be in possession of KCSE Mean Grade D (Plain) or its equivalent;
(ii) Have Certificate of Good conduct from Kenya Police;
(iii) Have valid basic First Aid Certificate.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct entrants will undergo three (3) months approved basic Security Course at Administration Police Training college or other approved institution. Main duties will involve patrol and/or guard of access points; detection of unauthorized persons, vehicles, animals and birds from entering premises and/or protected areas; and protection of Government property against theft. The officer should be able to control crowds and collect information and report on matters of security interest.

7. CLERICAL OFFICER II, JOB GROUP 'F' (100 POSTS) V/NO. 7/2008
TERMS OF SERVICE: PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE
SALARY SCALE: KSH.10717x537-11254x563-11817x599-12416 P.M.
REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT
For appointment to the grade of Clerical Officer II Job Group 'F' a candidate
must have;-
(i) Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Mean Grade C- (Minus) or its approved equivalent; and
(ii) Proficiency in computer applications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This Is the entry and training grade for the Clerical Cadre. Work at this level will be carried out under close supervision and guidance of a more senior officer and will be subject to regular checks and verification. Officers at this level will be deployed in the HRM unit, General Registry, Supplies, Accounts Office or General Office services. Specific duties will include compiling statistical records; sorting, filing and dispatching letters; maintaining an efficient filing system; processing appointments, promotions, discipline, transfers and other related duties in human resource management; computation of financial or statistical records based on routine or special sources of information; preparing payment vouchers; compiling data and drafting simple letters.

8. HOUSE KEEPING ASSISTANT I, JOB CORUP 'F' (4 POSTS) V/NO. 8/2008
TERMS OF SERVICE: PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE
SALARY SCALE: KSH.10717X537-11254X563-11817X599-12416 P.M.
REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT
For appointment to the grade of House Keeping Assistant I, Job Group 'F' a candidate must-
(i) Be in possession of at least the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Mean Grade D+ (Plus) with grade C- in English, Mathematics, Biology and either Science or Physical Science; and
(ii) Have successfully completed a two year pre-service training at the Kenya Polytechnic and have been awarded a Diploma in institutional Management, or be in possession of any other approved equivalent qualification.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is the entry grade to the Housekeepers/cateresses Cadre. A House Keeping Assistant will be responsible for the performance of a variety of duties under close supervision and guidance by a senior officer. These duties include; preparation of menus, their costing and food deliver; supervision of cleanliness and sanitation of catering and hostel facilities; management of laundry; maintenance of furnishing linen, furniture, beddings and keeping proper records of the catering stores/inventory and hostel inventory; looking into the general welfare of students, and/or patrons as appropriate; taking responsibility for receipt, storage and issue of foodstuffs and sundries; and performing any other duties as my be assigned from time to time.

9. ASSISTANT AGRICULTURAL OFFICER III, JOB GROUP 'H' (144 POSTS) V/NO. 9/2008
TERMS OF SERVICE: PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE
SALARY SCALE: KSH.16692x835-17527x876-18403x920-19323x966-20289 P.M.
REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT
For appointment to the grade of Assistant Agricultural Officer ill, Job Group
'H' a candidate must have:-
(i) Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Mean Grade C (Plain) or its equivalent; and
(ii) A Diploma in any of the following fields: Agriculture, Food Technology, Agriculture and Home Economics, Agricultural Education, Horticulture, or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This will be the entry and training grade of Assistant Agricultural Officers' Cadre. An officer at this level will be deployed in a Division or in an Agricultural Training Center. Duties and responsibilities will involve training and advising farmers on matters related to crop production, land development, planning and management of demonstration plots.

10. ASSISTANT GRAPHIC DESIGNER, JOB GROUP 'H' (2 POSTS) V/NO. 10/2008
TERMS OF SERVICE: PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE
SALARY SCALE: KSH.16692x835-17527x876-18403x920-19323x966-20289 P.M.
REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT
Appointment to this grade will be made from candidates in possession of a Diploma in Graphic and Art Design from the Kenya Polytechnic or an equivalent from a recognized Institution qualification as approved by the Permanent secretary and Director of Personnel Management.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
At this level, an officer will be involved in the preparation of complex artistic drawings, sketches, cover design for booklets and magazines. The work will also include colour separation and photographic works.

i have made over 30 applications where i meet the outlined specifications but there has neither been a reply nor any affirmative response. are the adverts just placed for formality purposes? shitote emanu
