Job Title: Servers & Storage Architect

Department: Information Technology & Networks (IT&N)
Section: IT Architecture Design & Implementation
Division: IT Databases & Operating Systems

Responsibilities

  • Design and draw up of server and storage hardware specifications to meet the dynamic company’s computing need.
  • Liaise with server and storage vendors to ensure implementation adheres strictly to design
  • Implement the security, accessibility control and protection of the intranet resources as defined in the IT policy document.
  • Monitor server and storage performance and resources utilization with a view to establishing optimal systems performance.
  • Weekly reporting of server environment status
Work experiences, Skills and Abilities:
  • 1-2 Years working experience in a data center environment.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server and UNIX / LINUX operating systems.
  • Experience working with Server Hardware and Storage systems
  • Experience with management systems e.g. HP Open view will be an added advantage.
  • Good communication and written skills
Minimum Qualifications / Education:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.

Job Title: OS & Anti Virus Implementation Architect

Department:

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning and overseeing software upgrades, patch management and deployment.

Work experiences, Skills and Abilities:
  • 1-2 Years working experience in a busy IT environment.

Job Title: System Integration & Quality Control Architect

Responsibilities
  • Lead implementation activities for functional areas, including functional design, build, testing, training development and documentation.
  • Ensure consistent corporate application development and deployment.
  • Custodian of the Change Management System
  • Ensure the changes adhere to the IT Policy
  • Maintains the Change Management systems guide
  • Work with application owner to ensure that the proposed changes are implemented in a way that minimizes the risk of negative impacts.
  • Monitor the progress of change requests.

Job Title: Database Administrator

Department: Information Technology & Networks (IT&N)

Section: IT Management Centre
Division: Business Continuity & Security

Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain all corporate (Regional & Headquarter) databases in the areas of: maintenance, recovery, tuning, performance, and troubleshooting
  • Research and recommend optimal hardware configurations for Database Servers.
  • Work with system administrators in setup of said servers
Work Experiences, Skills and Abilities:
  • Installation, configuration, upgrading, migration and patching of Oracle databases in heterogeneous environment (UNIX, SUN Solaris, Windows). Extensive experience with RDBMS, RAC, installations, RMAN, OEM, DataGuard, database tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Development support, production support, and design review in a complex environment.
  • Plan, Implement and test disaster recovery system, using RMAN and custom written shell scripts. Create and maintain Oracle DataGuard configuration.
  • Database monitoring and tuning, application and queries using TKPROF, OEM,
  • Extensive experience in tuning complex OLTP database with several thousands of concurrent users.
  • Creation, maintenance and tuning data warehouse databases. In particular, experience with both RAC and OPS.
  • Evaluating, reviewing and assisting developers create data models
  • Good communication skills and organizational abilities.

  • Knowledge of multiple database systems e.g. MS-SQL Server 2005-2008
Minimum Qualifications / Education:

Job Title: Systems Administrator

Responsibilities
  • Support, develop, administer, and maintain the back-office infrastructure of Telkom Kenya, which includes servers, data centre, and storage facilities, as well as server-side middleware and application software, located in the headquarters as well as regional centres across the country;
  • Provide second line support for users and customers for the resolution of incidents and problems related to the server infrastructure;
  • Be responsible for the execution of planned maintenance operations as described by the applicable procedures;
  • Be able to supply the installation, technical, support and maintenance documentation;
  • Develop administrative procedures for recurring system administration activities;
  • Investigate technical possibilities and new solutions in answer to requests from management and customers;
  • Support in the design, deployment and configuration of new server-side solutions, providing engineering and implementation support;
  • Participate in on call duty shifts for out of hour support

Work Experiences, Skills and Abilities:
  • 1-2 years experience with Windows 2000/2003 Server platforms with an emphasis on Active Directory and Domain Management.
  • Strong background in Exchange 2000/2003 messaging system.
  • Solid knowledge of LAN/WAN configurations to include experience with Cisco routers & switches, Internet firewalls, and wireless technology.
  • Basic Windows scripting skills.
  • Experience setting up and managing database systems such as SQL Server.
  • Advanced hardware & software troubleshooting skills.
  • Maintains quality customer service skills, a strong work ethic, and is a team player with the ability to work well independently.
  • Must possess above average organization skills, excellent communication skills, and can demonstrate problem solving skills.
Minimum Qualifications / Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Compute Science is required.

Job Title: Senior Expert – Information Security

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for defining security frameworks for existing and new server systems.
  • Responsible for system security planning, developing, and implementing security policies across multiple platforms.
  • Provides support in security management and security architect standards and documentations.
  • Manages and supports networking and security services in LAN, WAN and Internet network infrastructure
  • Manages security devices such as firewall, IDS, VPN, etc
  • Provides technical support and consultation for enhancement of and change to network & server security configuration
  • Conducts active penetration tests; discover vulnerabilities in information systems
  • Serves as an internal information security consultant to the organization
  • Implements information security policies and procedures for the organization
  • Reviews all system-related security plans throughout the organization's server infrastructure, acting as a liaison to Information Systems
  • Monitors compliance with information security policies and procedures, referring problems to the appropriate department manager
  • Monitors the internal control systems to ensure that appropriate access levels are maintained
  • Prepares the disaster recovery plan
Work Experiences, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of penetration testing, VPN, firewalls, Checkpoint and networking including Cisco and/or Juniper Netscreen product sets.
  • Internet messaging experience is also key including exposure to some of the following: Mimesweeper, Mailsweeper, Surfcontrol, Websence, Bluecoat, Messagelabs.
  • Knowledge of Internet Proxy service.
  • Knowledge of computer forensics.

Minimum Qualifications / Education:

  • Manage the IT Helpdesk
  • Provide first and second level IT support
  • Ensure Service Level Agreements are designed and implemented
  • Manage customer service satisfaction by performing consistent and periodic reviews of work orders and ensure proper escalation processes are performed
Work Experiences, Skills and Abilities:
  • At least 1 year working experience
  • Excellent training, capacity building and trouble shooting skills
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Team player able to work in a multi – cultural environment with little supervision
