Kenyatta University wishes to recruit qualified and dedicated individuals to fill the following vacant positions at the Main Campus.

SCHOOL OF VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS
Department of Theatre Arts and Film Technology

Senior Lecturer - Film Technology

Applicants should have a PhD degree or its equivalent from a recognized university with
specialization in five (5) or more of the following areas:-

Photography and Design, Video/Film Camera Operations, Screen-writing, Acting for TV and Film Directing and Production, Animation and Computer Graphics, Audio-video-editing, Cinematography, Music in Film, Radio-broadcasting Techniques, Adjudicating Film, Film Marketing and Management, Entrepreneurship in the Arts.

In addition the applicant must:
  • Have at least five (5) years of University teaching, three (3) of which as a full-time Lecturer after PhD qualification.
  • Have successfully supervised at least three (3) Masters students or one (1) PhD student since being appointed Lecturer.
  • Show evidence of continuing research including having published at least three (3) articles in refereed journals or one (1) refereed book in the candidate's area of specialization published by recognized publisher, since being"appointed Lecturer.
  • Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned Conferences, Seminars or Workshops.
  • Show evidence of active participation in departmental activities and good quality teaching
Lecturer - Film Technology

Applicants should be holders of a PhD degree or its equivalent from a recognized university
with specialization in five (5) or more of the following areas:-

In addition the applicant must:
  • Have presented at least three (3) seminar papers or has two (2) publications in refereed journals or a university level book by a reputable publisher.
  • Have full time university teaching experience as tutorial fellow or assistant lecturer for at least three (3) years.
  • Those with a Masters degree and at least thee (3) years of University teaching experience may also apply.
Tutorial Fellow - Film Technology

Applicants should have a Masters degree in Film-related studies or its equivalent from a
recognized university in three (3) or more of the following areas:

Photography and Design, Video/Film Camera Operations, Screen-writing, Acting for TV and Film Directing and Production, Animation and Computer Graphics, Audio-videc-editing, Cinematography, Music in Film, Radio-broadcasting Techniques, Adjudicating Film, Film Marketing and Management, Entrepreneurship in the Arts.

In addition the applicant must:
  • Have at least two (2) years of University teaching experience and/or relevant publications together with working experience in the area of Film.
  • The successful candidate will be required to participate fully in day-to-day teaching of undergraduate students as well as carry out research.
  • Evidence of having registered for a PhD Degree course will be an added advantage.
  • They must be prepared to pursue PhD degree in the area of specialization
Tutorial Fellow - Theatre Arts

Applicants should have a Masters degree in a relevant field or its equivalent from a recognized
university in three (3) or more of the following areas:-

Play-Writing, Stage-Craft, Stage-Directing, Theatre Criticism, Costume Construction and Wardrobe Management, Puppet Theatre, Medieval Theatre, Stage-Lighting, Theatre for Development, Public Speaking, Radio-Broadcasting Techniques, Chinese Theatre, Japanese Theatre, Indian Theatre, Theatre Marketing and Management, Media and Society.

In addition the applicant must:
  • Have at least two (2) years university teaching experience and/or relevant publications together with working experience in the area of Theatre.
  • The successful candidate will be required to participate fully in day-to-day teaching of undergraduate students as well as carry out research.
  • Evidence of having registered for a PhD Degree course will be an added advantage.
  • They must be prepared to pursue PhD degree in the area of specialization
Technician Grade C/D - Film

Applicants must be holders of a Bachelors degree from a recognized university or a Higher National Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from KIMC or any other reputable institution.

In addition, applicants must have at least three (3) years relevant working experience in the grade of Film technician or in a comparable position and be computer literate.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of all electrical and electronic equipment in the department.

Technician Grade C/D - Theatre

Applicants must be holders of a Bachelors degree from a recognized university or a Higher National Diploma in the relevant field from a reputable institution.

In addition, applicants must have at least three (3) years relevant working experience in the following:
  • Production of Educational Theatre/Film Programmes
  • Entertainment Theatre/Film Projects Organizing Theatre/Film Workshops
  • Managing Cultural Events
The successful candidate will be responsible for;
  • Organizing all Performance, Theatrical and film events in the department.
  • Creating and co-coordinating theatre film and festivals and workshops within the University.
  • Creating projects that will enable students to further develop their talents.
  • Overall administration of all stage productions.
Technician Grade C/D - Technical Operation

Applicants must be holders of a Bachelors degree from a recognized university or a Higher National Diploma in Technical Operation from KIMC or any other reputable institution.

In addition, applicants must have at least three (3) years relevant working experience in the grade of Technical Operator or in a comparable position and be computer literate.

The successful candidate will be responsible for Operation of Visual and Sound equipment in the department.

Stage Manager Grade C/D

Applicants must be holders of a Bachelors degree from a recognized university or a Higher National Diploma in the relevant field from a reputable institution.

In addition, applicants must have at least three (3) years relevant working experience in the following;
  • Stage Management
  • Stage Lighting
  • Sound Management
  • Stage-set and Design
  • Costume and prop management
The successful candidate will be responsible for;
  • Management of stage items to include props, costumes, decor and scenic tools.
  • Preparing the stage for coursework activities.
  • Setting and striking the stage during any performances.
SCHOOL OF APPLIED HUMAN SCIENCES
Department of Foods, Nutrition and Dietetics

Professor

Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in the relevant area from a recognized university. In addition the applicant must:
  • Have at least twelve (12) years of University teaching, five (5) of which as Associate Professor.
  • Have successfully supervised at least four (4) Masters students or two (2) PhD students since being appointed Associate Professor.
  • Show evidence of continuing research including having published at least four (4) articles in refereed journals or two (2) articles in refereed journals plus one (1) book by a reputable publisher since being appointed Associate Professor.
  • Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned Conferences, Seminars or Workshops.
  • Show evidence of active participation in departmental activities and good quality teaching
Associate Professor

Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in the relevant area from a recognized university. In addition the applicant must:
  • Have at least eight (8) years of University teaching, four (4) of which as a full-time Senior Lecturer.
  • Have successfully supervised at least four (4) Masters students or two (2) PhD students since being appointed Senior Lecturer.
  • Show evidence of continuing research including having published at least four (4) articles in refereed journals or two (2) articles in refereed journals plus one (1) book by a reputable publisher since being appointed Senior Lecturer.
  • Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned Conferences, Seminars or Workshops.
  • Show evidence of active participation in departmental activities and good quality teaching.
Senior Lecturer

Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in the relevant area from a recognized university. In addition the applicant must:
  • Have at least five (5) years of University teaching, three (3) of which as a full-time Lecturer after PhD qualification.
  • Have successfully supervised at least three (3) Masters students or one (1) PhD student since being appointed Lecturer.

  • Have presented at least three (3) seminar papers or has two (2) publications in refereed journals or a university level book by a reputable publisher.
  • Have full time university teaching experience as tutorial fellow or assistant lecturer for at least three (3) years
SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES
Department Of English and Linguistics

Lecturer

Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in the relevant area from a recognized universty or have successfully defended PhD thesis.

In addition the applicants must:
  • Have presented at least three (3) seminar papers or has two (2) publications in refereed journals or a university level book by a reputable publisher.
  • Have full time university teaching experience as tutorial fellow or assistant lecturer for at least three (3) years.
Tutorial Fellow

Applicants must be holders of a Masters degree in the relevant area from a recognized university.

In addition, the applicant must:
  • Show evidence of teaching experience at university level
  • Be prepared to pursue a PhD degree in the area of specialization
SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
Department of Educational Communication and Technology

Chief Technician

Applicants must be holders of B.Sc. Degree in Electrical Engineering (Electronics Option) from a recognized university. Candidates with KCE Division II or KCSE mean Grade C+ (Plus) and above and a Higher National Diploma in the field from a reputable institution will also be considered.

In addition, applicants must;
  • Have at least eight (8) years relevant working experience in a busy teaching or research laboratory as a Senior Technician Grade E/F or equivalent
  • Be computer literate
  • Demonstrate leadership and administrative skills. A Masters degree in Mass Media will be an added advantage.
Senior Technician Grade E/F

Applicants must be holders of B.Sc. Degree in Electrical Engineering (Electronic Option) from a recognized university. Candidates with KCE Division II or KCSE mean Grade C+ (Plus) and above and a Higher National Diploma in the field from a reputable institution will also be considered.

In addition, applicants must;
  • Have at least five (5) years experience in Operation and Maintenance of Audio/Visual equipment in a busy teaching or research laboratory as a Senior Technician Grade C/D or equivalent
  • Be computer literate
  • Demonstrate leadership and administrative skills
Technician Grade C/D - Darkroom

Applicants must be holders of KCE Division II or KCSE mean Grade C+ (Plus) and above. They must also have professional qualification of a Higher National Diploma in Mass Media (photographic video and audio production potion) or equivalent from a recognized institution.

In addition, applicants must;
  • Have at least three (3) years relevant working experience in a busy teaching or research Laboratory
  • Must be computer literate.
Technician Grade C/D - Audio/Visual

Applicants must be holders of KCE Division II or KCSE mean Grade C+ (Plus) and above. They must also have professional qualification of a Higher National Diploma in Audio Visual Operatives from a recognized institution.

In addition, applicants must;
  • Have at least three (3) years relevant working experience in a busy teaching or research Laboratory Must be computer literate.
  • Certificate qualification in maintenance of electronic equipment will be an added advantage.
Library Assistant - Grade A/B

Applicants must be holders of KCE Division III or KCSE mean Grade D+ and above. They must be holders of a Diploma in Library and Information Science or equivalent professional qualification from a recognized institution.

In addition the applicant must:-
  • Have at least three (3) years experience in cataloging of print and non-print materials.
  • Show evidence of computer literacy.
  • Operation of audio-visual equipment and graphic arts will be an added advantage.
SCHOOL OF PURE AND APPLIED SCIENCES
Department of Physics

Senior Technician Grade E/F

Applicants must be holders of B.Sc. Degree in the relevant field from a recognized university. Candidates with KCE Division II or KCSE mean Grade C+ (Plus) and above and a Higher National Diploma in the relevant field from a reputable institution will also be considered

In addition, applicants must;
  • Have at least five (5) years relevant working experience in a busy teaching or research laboratory as a Senior Technician Grade C/D or equivalent
  • Be computer literate
  • Demonstrate leadership and administrative skills.
Technician - Grade C/D

Applicants must be holders of KCE Division II or KCSE mean Grade C+ (Plus) and above. They must also have professional qualification of Higher National Diploma in the relevant field from a recognized institution.

In addition, applicants must;
  • Have at least three (3) years relevant working experience in a busy teaching or research Laboratory as Technician Grade A/B or equivalent.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in the relevant field will also be considered.
Technician - Grade A/B

Applicants must be holders of KCE Division III or KCSE mean Grade D+ (Plus) and above. They must also have professional qualification of Ordinary Diploma in the relevant field from a recognized institution.

In addition, applicants must;
  • Have at least three (3) years relevant working experience in a busy teaching or research Laboratory
  • Be computer literate.
ADMINISTRATION DIVISION

Receptionist Grade III/IV

Applicants must be holders of KCE Division IV or KCSE mean Grade D (plain) and above. They must have a Certificate in Telephone Operation/Reception or a certificate in any other relevant discipline.

In addition, the applicant must:
  • Have at least three (3) years relevant working experience
  • Be computer literate
Terms of Service:

Terms of service for teaching posts of Lecturer and above include membership to a pension scheme, a generous medical scheme, housing allowance and commuting allowance. Other posts will be on performance based two (2) year renewable contract plus a generous medical scheme, housing allowance and commuting allowance.

He / she must be computer literate and proficient in the following Architectural softwares: Archicad, Artlantis render / Piranesi or any other. Those with higher national diploma in related field will have an added advantage.

Terms Of Service:
