Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following posts in the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development.

1. CLERICAL OFFICER II
ADVERT NO. 8/2008 - FIVE (5) POSTS
(JOB GROUP T)
SALARY SCALE; 10,717 X 537 - 11,254 X 563 -11,817 X 599 -12,416 P.M

(a) Requirements for Appointment:

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have;
  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C- (Minus) or its approved equivalent;
  • Proficiency in computer applications will be an added advantage.
(b) Duties and Responsibilities;
  • Compiling statistical records
  • Sorting, filing and dispatching letters
  • Maintaining an efficient filing system
  • computation of financial or statistical records based on routine or special sources of Information
  • Preparing payment vouchers
  • Compiling, entering data and drafting simple letters.
2. ASSISTANT HOUSEMASTER/ASSISTANT HOUSEMISTRESS
ADVERT NO. 9/2008 - EIGHT (8) POSTS
(JOB GROUP F)
SALARY SCALE : Kshs. 10,717 x 537 -11,254 x 563 - 11,817 x 599 - 12,416 p.m.

(a) Requirements for Appointment:

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have;
  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D+ (Plus) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Be atleast twenty one (21) years old; and
  • An aptitude of interacting with and handling disadvantaged and difficult children.
(b) Duties and Responsibilities;
  • Assist the Housemaster/Mistress in an approved school or Juvenile Remand Home in the day - to - day control of a group of forty (40) children or more;
  • Keeping a progress record on each child in the house/dormitory; and
  • Compiling a monthly report on each child which is to be submitted to the respective Housemaster/Mistress.
3. DRIVER GRADE III
ADVERT NO. 10/2008 - SIX (6) POSTS
(JOB GROUP 'D')
SALARY SCALE: 8,819 X 438 - 9,257 X 464 - 9,721 P.M.

(a) Requirements for Appointment:
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have;
  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution:
  • A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for the class(es) of vehicle(s) an officer is required to drive
  • Attended a First Aid certificate course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution
  • Passed Suitability test for Driver Grade III
  • Passed Practical Test for Drivers conducted by the respective Ministry/Department
  • A valid certificate of Good conduct from the Kenya Police; and
  • At least two (2) years driving experience.
(b) Duties and Responsibilities;
  • Driving a motor vehicle as authorized
  • Carrying out routine checks on the vehicle's cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure, etc
  • Detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems
  • Maintenance of work tickets for vehicles assigned
  • Ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road
  • Safety of the passengers and/or goods therein; and
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.
4. SECRETARIAL ASSISTANT II
ADVERT NO. 11/2008 - THREE (3) POSTS
(JOB GROUP 'G')
SALARY SCALE: 13,733 X 686 - 14,419 X 721 -15,140 X 757 - 15,897 X 795 - 16,692 X 835 - 17,527 P.m

(a) Requirements for Appointment:

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have;
  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade C- (Minus) with at least a C (plain) in English language or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • The following qualifications from the Kenya National Examinations Council-Typewriting II (minimum 40 w.p.m)/Computerized Document Processing, Business English I/Communications I, Office Practice I, Commerce I; and
  • A certificate in Computer Applications (Windows, Ms-Word, Ms-Excel, Ms- Access and Internet) from a recognized institution.
(b) Duties and Responsibilities;
  • Typing from manuscripts Processing data Operating office equipment
  • Ensuring security of office equipment, documents and records
  • Attending to visitors/clients
  • Handling telephone calls and appointments and undertaking other secretarial duties that may be assigned.
  • The officer may be required to work for more than one officer or may be deployed in a typing pool.
5. SENIOR SUPPORT STAFF/CLEANING SUPERVISOR III
ADVERT NO. 12/2008 - FOUR (4) POSTS
(JOB GROUP 'D')
SALARY SCALE: Ksh. 8,819 x 438 - 9,257 x 464 - 9,721 p.m.

(a) Requirements for Appointment:

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have;
  • Must be a holder of Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) Division IV or Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Mean Grade D (Plain).
(b) Duties and Responsibilities:
Successful candidates will be deployed in any of the station within the Ministry and assignments will include:-Carrying out cleaning and messengerial duties as instructed.
