Tearfund Southern Sudan Programme Vacancies

Tearfund is a Christian INGO which has been working in Sudan for 30 years through local partners &, in close collaboration with the GOSS, it directly implements healthcare, nutrition, food security and water & sanitation programmes in rural areas of Aweil East and Aweil South Counties (Northern Bahr el Ghazal), Wuror County (Jonglei) and Fashoda County (Upper Nile). Numerous vacancies for skilled Sudanese nationals have become available because Tearfund is implementing the Government of Southern Sudan policy of prioritising Sudanese nationals for all roles in Southern Sudan.

All applicants must have good English language skills and must provide their national identity card or passport as proof they fit the nationality criteria stated for each role. The selection process will involve a written test and a panel interview and all offers will be made subject to satisfactory references.

  • Nutrition & Food Security Project Manager
  • NBeG
  • Manage a large emergency nutrition and food security programme to achieve a sustainable improvement in the nutritional status of the local communities. The programme includes SFP, OTP, two Stabilisation Centres, seeds, tools and animal traction.
  • Very experienced manager with proven competence in designing, implementing and managing nutrition & food security projects in rural contexts. You will have excellent people and project cycle management skills, international experience, a nutrition or agriculture degree, strong training and coaching skills, understanding of Southern Sudan context. Dinka and Arabic language skills advantageous.
  • Finance Administrator
  • Nairobi (Kenyans only)
  • Account for transactions using electronic accounting system, analyse expenditure, produce reports etc.
  • Accounting qualification, at least two years accounts experience, familiar with accounting software, organised and quick learner.
  • Finance Assistant
  • Nairobi (Kenyans only)
  • Manage petty cash, account for daily purchase transactions, file financial documentation.
  • Part qualified accountant, > 1 year accounting experience, good Excel skills, and experience of accounting software, organised, committed team player.
  • Archivist (3 month contract only)
  • Nairobi (Kenyan preferred)
  • File, sort and methodically index financial, procurement and project data for the last few years, in compliance with Tearfund, donor and KRA regulations and in consultation with team.
  • Experienced archivist with detailed knowledge of institutional donor rules. KRA record retention rules and INGO work. Careful, methodical, organised and diligent, Self-motivated and reliable.
  • Finance Administrators

  • Manage petty cash, account for daily purchase transactions, process payroll, prepare expenditure versus budget reports and file financial documentation.
  • Accounting qualification, at least two years accounts experience preferably with an NGO AND GOOD Excel skills, organised and quick learner.
  • HR Administrators
  • Juba / NBeG (Sudanese only)
  • Assist HR Officer with maintaining HR records, communicating staff policies and dealing with HR issues.
  • Diploma or equivalent in management (ideally with HR specialism) and a minimum of 2 years HR and administration experience. Strong English language skills. Arabic and / or dinka language skills also advantageous.
  • Field Administrators
  • Jonglei / NBeG (Sudanese only)
  • Perform the finance, human resources and administration functions for our programme including processing payroll, accounting for daily purchase transactions, preparing cash forecasts, preparing staff contracts, maintaining staff leave records, making sure the compound runs smoothly, welcoming guests, and managing the cooks and cleaners.
  • Honest hard working computer literate accountant, accounting qualification, >2 years accounts experience ideally including working knowledge of institutional donor rules, quick learner experience of HR process and administration including contract and performance management, good Microsoft Excel skills, excellent organisation skills. Nuer, Dinka and Arabic language skills would be advantageous.
  • Base Administrator
  • Juba (Sudanese only)
  • Manage office and residential compounds including management of cooks & cleaners, maintenance, domestic and office supplies, permits, registrations and staff movements.
  • Diploma or equivalent in management (ideally with HR or administrative specialism) and a minimum of two years of administrative experience. Good English language skills essential and Arabic language skills advantageous.
  • Area Logistics Officers
  • Jonglei / NBeG / Upper Nile (Sudanese only)
  • Responsible for all logistics in the field location including procurement, people and freight movement, construction, communication and power systems, fleet management, etc. Manage and train an assistant logistician, storekeeper, guards and drivers.
  • Hard working logistician, relevant degree, clean driving license, preferably CIPS qualifier. 3 years experience of procurement, warehousing, fleet management, construction, peon-management & security management, proven technical expertise to maintain electrical system & communications equipment & to trouble shoot computers, physically fit. Oinka. Nuer. SN': or Arabic language skills would be advantageous.
  • Nutrition Project Officer
  • Jonglei (Sudanese only)
  • Support the Project Manager to implement our large emergency nutrition programme including SFP, DTP and Stabilisation Centre. Capacity build local nutrition supervisor and extension workers. Conduct nutritional surveillance and surveys.
  • Qualified nurse nutritionist, excellent project management skills, experience of conducing nutritional surveillance, surveys & managing SFPs, OTPs and Stabilisation Centre, excellent; > community relationship skills, proven experience in managing a team well and capacity bui!din< i local staff, computer literate, good report writing skills, physically fit for walking. Nuer language ; skills would be advantageous.
  • Nutrition Nurses
  • Jonglei / NBeG (Sudanese only)
  • Support the Project Officer to run our large emergency nutrition programme including SFP, DTP and a Stabilisation Centre. Train, coach and mentor local nutrition staff to build their capacity.
  • Qualified nurse, >2 years experience with a large emergency nutrition programmes, experience in conducting nutritional surveillance, surveys & managing SFPs, OTPs and Stabilisation ; Centres. Excellent community relationship skills, commitment to capacity building local nutrition, computer literate & physically fit for walking. Nuer, Dinka or Arabic language skills would be advantageous.
  • Curative Health Project Officers
  • Jonglei / NBeG / Upper Nile (Sudanese only)
  • Implement a primary healthcare programme in collaboration with the County Health Department. Manage and capacity build teams of PHCC/U staff. Strengthen MoH health systems.
  • Proven project management skills, degree level health qualification, >3 years experience or; monitoring quality of curative primary healthcare, health reporting, managing pharmaceutical supplies and conducting health training, excellent community relationship skills, computer! literate, physically fit for walking. Nuer, Dinka and Arabic language skills would be! advantageous.
  • Health Promotion Project Officers
  • Jonglei / NBeG / Upper Nile (Sudanese only)
  • Provide community health education and lead positive changes in health attitudes and practices Manage and train a local health promotion supervisor & extension workers
  • Committed, energetic mobiliser, degree in public health, >3 years practical experience in community health/hygiene promotion, proven project management skills, excellent! interpersonal and communication skills. Nuer, Dinka, Shilluk or Arabic language skills would be advantageous.
  • Community Empowerment & Accountability Project Officers
  • Jonglei / NBeG / Upper Nile (Sudanese only)
  • Mobilise leaders, men, women & youth to 'own' the development of their communities and to actively participate in projects. Work with health staff to train Boma Health Committees. Train local community empowerment staff. Ensure accountability to beneficiaries through participatory planning, information sharing and feedback mechanisms.
  • Gifted at mobilising leaders and communities, >3 years community development experience, relevant degree, excellent facilitation skills to assist communities in analysing their priorities. : risks and capacities, skills & commitment to train local staff, computer literate, familiar with HAP ; principles, good at report writing and physically fit for walking. Nuer. Dinka. Shilluk or Arabic language skills are essential.
  • Water & Sanitation Project Officer
  • NBeG (Sudanese only)
  • Field team leader responsible for establishing rainwater harvesting systems, overseeing contractor drilling boreholes, training water management committees, training pump technicians, latrine construction and maintenance.
  • Degree in civil engineering or water & sanitation technology, technical knowledge of designing ; implementing water &/or sanitation practices & systems, strong people and project management j skills, proven ability to train and build the capacities of your team and the community, raising I purchase requests for project inputs, monitoring stock, analysing expenditure, analysing survey results & writing donor reports. Dinka and Arabic language skills would be advantageous.
  • WATSAN Engineers
  • NBeG (Sudanese only)
  • Train WASH Committees, mobilise & train communities to construct latrines, establish rainwater harvesting systems.
  • Degree in civil engineering or water & sanitation technology, proven skills to train WASH committees in managements maintenance of hand pumps, latrine construction & maintenance ; Dinka and Arabic language skills would be advantageous.
