General Requirements

Professor
Applicants should have PhD Degree or its equivalent from recognized university and at least four (4) years of university teaching and research experience since becoming Associate Professor in their areas of specialization.

They must have at least five (5) publications in refereed journals or two (2) university level books since appointment as Associate Professor.

The successful candidates will be expected to provide academic leadership in the department by teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in their areas of specialization, supervise postgraduate students, initiate and carry out research and participate in community service.

They should show evidence of sustained research output, effective teaching, successful supervision of postgraduate students and activity in relevant professional bodies.

Associate Professor

Applicants should have PhD Degree or its equivalent from a recognized university and at least four (4) years of university teaching and research experience since becoming Senior Lecturer. They must have either at least four (4) publications in refereed journals or one (1) university level book since appointment as a Senior Lecturer.

They should show evidence of continuing research, publications, effective teaching, participation in seminars and conferences and supervision of postgraduate students.

The successful candidates will be expected to provide academic leadership in the department by teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in their areas of specialization, supervise postgraduate students, initiate and carry out research and participate in community service.

Senior Lecturer

Applicants should have PhD Degree or its equivalent from a recognized university and at least four (4) years of university teaching and research experience since becoming lecturer.

They should show evidence of sustained research output as evident by at least four (4) publications in refereed journals since appointment as Lecturer.

Those with Masters Degree in addition to Bachelors Degree, plus at least five (5) years of university teaching experience as Lecturer and five (5) publications, in refereed journals since appointment as Lecturer will also be considered.

Successful candidates will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervise postgraduate students, initiate and direct relevant research projects and participate in the implementation of university extension services as well as departmental and field activities.

Lecturer

Applicants should have PhD Degree or its equivalent from recognized university. Those with Masters Degree in addition to Bachelors Degree and at least (2) years of university teaching experience or research experience and at least two (2) publications in refereed journals will also be considered.

The successful candidates will be expected to teach, conduct research, and supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate students

Research Fellow

Applicants should have PhD Degree in Biotechnology or Food Technology or its equivalent from a recognized university.

Those with Masters Degree in Biotechnology or Food Technology and at least three (3) years research experience in a university or comparable institution will also be considered.

The successful candidates will be expected to conduct research at the Science Park.

Assistant Lecturer

Applicants should have at least a Masters Degree in addition to Bachelors Degree with at least one (1) year teaching experience at a university.

The successful candidates will be expected to teach, conduct research, and supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Candidates should be holders of Master of Business Administration Degree (Accounting or Finance option), from a recognized university plus CPA (K) with at least six (6) years relevant working experience in a university or comparable organization.

Applicants with Bachelor of Commerce Degree or its equivalent from a recognized university plus CPA (K) with at least eight (8) years relevant working experience three (3) of which must be at the level of an Accountant in a university or comparable organization will also be considered. Applicants should be registered with ICPA (K).

The successful candidate will oversee the day to day administration of Audit Department, review and develop audit techniques and procedures for financial as well as comprehensive audits; draw up audit programmes; issue primary audit reports, queries and observations; responsible for supervision of staff which includes maintaining discipline and morale; overall review of accounting procedures and practices as well as taking tasks outside normal routine duties.

Candidates should be holders of Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Accounting or Finance option) from a recognized University plus CPA I Those with CPA II plus four (4) years relevant working experience will also be considered.

The successful candidate will examine all books of accounts to ascertain that transactions have been made in accordance with the regulations and vouch their accuracy and propriety; undertake a set of audit assignments under the overall direction of an audit team leader; carry out with minimum supervision, the audit of records of functional departments; take charge of an audit assignment and make reports to the immediate senior officer.

22. AUDIT ASSISTANT
GRADE A/B - AD/22/02/09 -1 POST

Candidates should be holders of CPA I plus two (2) years relevant working experience.

The successful candidate will be involved in actual audit work such as examining vouchers, cash books and any other relevant work as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

23. SUPPLIES OFFICER
GRADE XII - AD/23/02/09 -1 POST

Candidates should be holders of Bachelors Degree in Economics, Commerce or Business Administration from a recognized university with at least five (5) years relevant working experience in a university or comparable organization Those with Diploma in Purchasing and Material Management from a recognized institution will have an added advantage.

Successful candidate will be responsible to quantify supplies held and their numerical relationship to bin cards, stock ledgers, computer print out of stock levels and maximum and minimum stock levels; apparent conditions of the supplies held; operating procedures and documents in use and their conformity with the prescribed regulations; the stores catalogue, its contents and maintenance and general lay out of stores; advise faculties and user departments of any irregularities in supplies and the required remedial action; supervise supplies and carry out stores staff and any other responsibilities that may be assigned to him by senior officer.

24. ASSISTANT PURCHASING OFFICER
GRACE E/F - AD/24/02/09

Candidates should be holders of Bachelors Degree in Economics, Commerce or Business Administration from a recognized university with at least three (3) years relevant working experience in a university or comparable organization Those with Diploma in Purchasing and Material Management from a recognized institution will have an added advantage.

Successful candidate will be responsible to Purchasing Officer in performing the following duties: receive requisitions from users for purchase of goods and services and confirm correct specifications and deliveries requested; request for quotations or tenders from the suppliers; evaluate received quotations or tenders; seek approvals for purchase either from the Purchasing Officer or management; place orders or arrange for contracts with selected suppliers and monitor deliveries to ensure supplies do arrive as promised (order progressing; physically check received supplies and ensure they are correct to specifications and in good condition and to countercheck suppliers invoice with original quotations or tender documents and ensure original terms have been adhered to.

25. LEGAL ASSISTANT
GRADE C/D - AD/25/02/09 - 1 POST

Candidates should be holders of Diploma in Law or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution with at least three (3) years relevant working experience in a legal department in a University or comparable organization.

Successful candidate will be responsible to the Legal Officer for filing and serving of court pleadings; attending court registry for fixing hearing dates and managing Legal Officer's diary; under guidance of Legal Officer; draft pleadings and correspondences and carry out general clerical duties.

26. TECHNICIAN (CENTRAL SERVICES)
GRADE A/B - AD/26/02/09

Candidates should be holders of Diploma in Audio/Visual Operations from a recognized institution with at least one (1) year relevant working experience in a University or comparable organization. Those with Certificate qualifications in Maintenance of Electronic Equipment will have added advantage.

Successful candidates will be responsible for performing a wide range of duties for Public Address System under the guidance of a Senior Officer within the Department in addition to keeping proper inventory of the equipment, take proper care of the equipment, make sure the Public Address System is in proper working condition and installed before classes begin.

27. TRANSPORT OFFICER
GRADE XII -AD/27/02/09 - 1 POST

Candidates should be holders of Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fleet Management with at least five (5) years relevant working experience in a University or comparable organization.

Those with Higher National Diploma in Automotive Engineering or its equivalent with at least seven (7) years relevant working experience in a University or comparable organization will also be considered.

Successful candidate will be responsible for supervision of Transport Department which includes responsibility for safe, efficient, economical operation and maintenance of the University vehicles; assist with scheduling vehicles to obtain optimum efficiency; prepare operating cost reports, keep daily records of mileage; prepare budget proposals for the section; supervise drivers, mechanics and other transport personnel; arrange provision of transport in line with statutory obligations and in accordance with University rules and regulations and ensure prompt renewal of motor vehicles insurance and road license.

28. ASSISTANT TRANSPORT OFFICER

Candidates should be holders of Diploma in Transport Management or Mechanical Engineering or Fleet Management with at least five (5) years relevant working experience in a University or comparable organization.

Candidates should be holders of Bachelors Degree in Civil and Structural Engineering, Architecture or Building Economics from a recognized University with at least three (3) years relevant working experience in a University or comparable organization. Those with Higher National Diploma in Highways or Structural Engineering from recognized institutions with at least five (5) years relevant working experience will also be considered.

Successful candidate will be in-charge of building maintenance section of the University; in-charge of maintenance of roads and electrical installations and responsible for valuation of University properties.

30. WATER TECHNICIAN
GRADE C/D - AD/30/02/09 - 1 POST

Candidates must be holders of Diploma in Water Technology or Engineering from a recognized institution with at least three (3) years working experience in Operation and Maintenance of Water Supplies in a university or comparable organization.

Successful candidate will be responsible to the Senior Maintenance Officer for supervision of water treatment, keep record of water treatment chemicals, repairs of water systems, maintain cleanliness of water environments and ensure control and equitable distribution of water at the university.

31. BUILDING TECHNICIAN
GRADE C/D - AD/31/02/09 -1 POST

Candidates should be holders of Diploma in Building or Construction from a recognized institution with at least three (3) years relevant working experience in Building Construction in a university or comparable organization.

Successful candidate will be responsible to the Senior Maintenance Officer for working out estimates of costs of building materials and supervise building maintenance works.

32. ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN
GRADE C/D - AD/32/02/09 - 1 POST

Candidates must be holders of Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution with at least three (3) years working experience in installation and maintenance of electrical works in a University or comparable organization.

Successful candidate will be responsible to the Senior Maintenance Officer for interpretation of electrical specifications, work out estimates for electrical works and carry out and supervise electrical maintenance works.

33. QUANTITY SURVEYOR
GRADE XII - AD/33/02/09 - 1 POST

Candidates should be holders of Degree in Building Economics from a recognized university with at least five (5) years relevant working experience in a university or comparable organization. They must be registered with the Board of Architects and Quantity Surveyors of Kenya. Those with post-graduate qualification in Project Management will have added advantage.

Successful candidate will be responsible to the University Architect for the implementation of tender contract procedure which entails preparation of bills of quantities and specifications, cost estimation, planning and analysis, valuation, site measurements and preparation of final accounts.

34. DRAUGHTSMAN
GRADE E/F - AD/34/02/09 -1 POST

Candidates should be holders of Degree from recognized university in the relevant area with at least three (3) years relevant working experience or Higher National Diploma from a recognized institution in the relevant area with five (5) years relevant working experience in a university or comparable organization.

Successful candidates will be responsible to the University Architect for the preparation of civil and structural drawings, design and detailing of various structures, preparing of Bills of Quantities and documents related to contracts. He will also supervise work on site and carry out surveying work pertaining to civil and structural projects.

35. SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
GRADE XII - AD/35/02/09 -1 POST

Candidates should be holders of Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field from a recognized university with at least five (5) years relevant working experience in Software System development and administration and Internet Application programming in a university or comparable organization.

A thorough knowledge of current networking standards including TCP/IP, switched Ethernet, FDDI fast Ethernet and integration with Windows based and Linux based networks is required. Applicant should be skilled in configuration and management of computer hardware and networking equipment. In addition, they should have skills in managing Windows Domain Server, Exchange Messaging System and MS Internet Services. Professional qualification of CCNA or MCSE is required. Those with Masters Degree in ICT related field will have added advantage.

Successful candidate will oversee the planning installation, control and maintenance of computer systems within the university; analyze university needs and new technology and make recommendations; develop organizational policies and procedures for hardware and software acquisition and use; oversee network administration, database administration, web/ internet administration, end-user support and application support; oversee systems analysis and programming activities to establish and implement new or upgraded systems and programs; manages time, acquisition, cost and feasibility studies; assist in forecasting hardware and software needs, and work with other information systems areas to develop policies and procedures and to resolve technical problems.

36. ASSISTANT ICT MAINTENANCE ENGINEER
GRADE E/F -AD/36/02/09-1 POST

Candidates should be holders of Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field from a recognized university with at least three (3) years relevant working experience in a university or comparable organization.

Successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the provision of technical expertise in maintaining, repairing, configuring and upgrading ICT equipment and the management of the ICT engineering workshop.

Candidates should be holders of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Degree from a recognized University with at least two (2) years relevant working experience in a university or comparable organization.

Those with Postgraduate qualification in Gynaecology or Paediatrics will have an added advantage. Must also be registered with Kenya Medical and Practitioners Board and must have Board specialists' recognition

40. SECURITY OFFICER
GRADE C/D - AD/40/02/09 -1 POST

Candidate should be holders of Bachelors Degree from recognized university with at least three (3) years relevant working experience in a university or disciplined forces or security work. Candidates must also have Clean Discharge Certificate. Those with proof of training in First-Aid, Fire-prevention, Security Operations and Management will have an added advantage.

Successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring that all assets and properties at the university are safeguarded against destruction, misuse and loss; inform and update the Chief Security Officer on security related issues at the university; keep an inventory of security information necessary for planning; preparing training plans and emergency drills for staff and students; initiate and conduct periodic Risk Assessments in the university and recommend appropriate preventive and intervention measures; supervise the contracted security services providers; liaise with government security organs and perform other security related tasks as directed by the university authorities.

41. INVESTIGATIONS OFFICER
GRADE C/D - AD/41/02/09 -1POST

Candidates should be holders of Bachelors Degree from recognized university with at least three (3) years relevant working experience in security investigations. They should also have training in investigations preferably from the CID and a Clean Discharge Certificate.

Successful candidates will be attending to and preservation of scenes of crime; carry out investigation on files; write security reports and update Chief Security Officer on progress of all investigations; ensure there is investigative surveillance of the institution and its properties; facilitating any necessary forensic audits; acting as a liaison officer on all pending cases with the courts and police; ensuring that all the required evidence is available and perform any other investigative duties as may be directed by university authorities.

42. STUDENTS COUNSELLOR
GRADE XII - AD/42/02/09 - 1 POST

Candidates should be holders of Masters Degree in Counseling or Educational Psychology from a recognized university with at least four (4) years relevant working experience in counseling students in a university or comparable organization.

Successful candidates will be responsible for providing counseling, identify students with social, psychological and health related problems, liaise with students' health problems and advise students.

43. ASSISTANT STUDENTS COUNSELLOR
GRADE E/F -AD/43/02/09 -1 POST

Candidates should be holders of a University Degree either in Education or Social Sciences from a recognized university with at least three (3) years relevant working experience with students.

The applicants with knowledge of a second foreign language will have an added advantage.

Successful candidate will be responsible for liaising on regular basis with other organizations in the world of work to ensure coordination of activities; ensure full documentation of all such activities in Kenya and the world; ensure positive interaction and good relations with partners in the region; help the university build and enhance its capacity to provide consultancy services both locally and internationally; establish collaboration between university and key players in the planning and service provision in practical operations; assist university extend its corporate social responsibility to the public at large; undertake the role of informing the university on local, regional, national and international workshops, conferences and symposia; help in mobilization of resources for enhanced activities and provide a practical angle to the academic excellence of the university.

Candidates should be holders of Masters Degree in Economics, Statistics or Strategic Management, with at least three (3) years relevant working experience in a university or comparable organization.

Successful candidate will be responsible to a Senior Officer in the Department for the coordination of the preparation and review of university Strategic Plan; monitoring and evaluation of the Strategic Plan; developing a data bank of information on the following aspects: student enrolments, staff establishment, academic programmes, facilities and infrastructure; influence formulation of policies and writing of development proposals at the university.

46. RESEARCH AND EXTENSION ASSISTANT
GRADE E/F -AD/46/02/09-1 POST

Candidates should be holders of Masters Degree from a recognized university, with at least three (3) years relevant working experience in research work in a university or comparable organization.

Successful candidates should be able to record dictation in shorthand and transcribing; typing from drafts or recording from dictating machines; making appointments, dealing with enquiries; answering and making telephone calls; handling mail, writing simple routine correspondence on own initiative; taking charge of documents and files including confidential materials and ensuring security of the office.
