Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) Jobs and Career Opportunities

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) is a statutory body established under the Accountants Act CAP 15 of 2008 to develop and regulate the accountancy profession in Kenya.

The Institute is seeking qualified candidates to fill the following various positions.

Financial Accountant
HR/ICPAK/01/09

Job Summary

Reporting to the Finance Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for sound financial accounting and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of all financial statements
  • Preparation of various supporting schedules to the financial statements to facilitate external auditing of the same.
  • Preparation of cash flow statements
  • Monitoring and maintenance of company inventory
  • Payment of statutory deductions
  • Ensure accurate posting of data into system software
  • Handle ledger control accounts reconciliations
  • Preparation and submissions of VAT returns
  • Hands on bank reconciliations
  • Carry out any other duties as may be specified by the supervisor
Job Qualifications and Skills
  • Holder of Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting option) from a recognized university
  • Holder of a CPA Part 2 and committed to complete the CPA Part 3.
  • At least 2 years relevant experience
  • Experience in Computerized Accounting systems especially the use of Navision (ERP) will be an added advantage.
  • Strong computer skills, with solid proficiency in managing databases and Excel
  • Excellent report writing skills, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Below 30 years of age
Accounts Assistants
HR/ICPAK/02/09

Reporting to the Financial Accountant the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the operations of the finance department.

Job Qualifications and Skills
  • Either a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting option) from a recognized university or a CPA Part 2 and committed to complete the CPA Part 3.
  • Relevant work experience of at least one or two years will be an added advantage but is not a prerequisite for the job.
  • Strong computer skills
  • Experience in Computerized Accounting systems especially the use of Navision (ERP) will be an added advantage.
  • Below 30 years of age.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Daily banking
  • Payment processing through approved procedures
  • Processing of data into system software
  • Maintenance of petty cash
  • Any other duties assigned
Store Keeper
HR/ICPAK/03/09

Job Qualifications and Skills
  • Either a CPA Part 1 or a Certificate in Purchasing and Supplies or its equivalent
  • Be computer literate
  • At least one year relevant experience will be an added advantage but is not a prerequisite for the job.
  • Below 30 years of age
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Overall in charge of stores: receipt and dispatch of goods
  • Maintaining a clean and organized store
  • Managing computerized stores records/systems
  • Maintaining and updating re-order stock levels/ quantities
Accounts Clerk/Cashier
HR/ICPAK/04/09

Job Qualifications and Skills
  • CPA Part 1
  • 1 year experience
  • Below 30 years of age
  • Computer literate
  • Knowledge of Navision an added advantage
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Online receipting into system software
  • Timely banking
  • Writing and dispatching cheques
  • Any other duties assigned
Marketing Officer
HR/ICPAK/05/09:

Reporting to the Marketing Manager the incumbent will be required to assist in coordination of all activities in marketing function of the Institute.

Job Qualifications and Skills
  • Diploma in Sales & Marketing or its equivalent with at least two years relevant experience or a degree in Marketing
  • Below 25 years of age
  • Be computer literate
Duties & Responsibilities
  • In charge of member data base
  • To assist in the recruitment of new members
  • Involved in marketing the Institute to the public
  • To ensure retention of members
  • Report any issues of concern from members to management
  • Any other duties assigned
Management Trainees/Technical Officers
HR/ICPAK/06/09

Job Summary

The successful candidates will be required to work within the Institute’s Professional Services Division. They will be deployed in various departments dealing with financial reporting standards and in particular monitoring their development internationally as well as ensuring their implementation in Kenya.

Working with the management team, they will ensure that there is compliance with International Financial Reporting and Auditing Standards and any other relevant standards and regulations in Kenya.

Job Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting option) or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • CPA Part 2 and committed to completing CPA Part 3.
  • Be computer literate
  • Broad and extensive knowledge of accountancy profession matters especially IFRS, IAS and other financial reporting and management standards
  • Below 28 years of age
Responsibilities

Provide technical support to various committees of the Institute including coordinating the committee meetings and taking follow up action.
