International Rescue Committee Jobs in Kenya

The International Rescue Committee seeks to fill the following positions for its Kenya program.

Human Resource Manager

The position will be based in Nairobi.

Job Summary: Working under the guidance and supervision of the Human Resource & Administration Co-ordinator, the Human Resource Manager is responsible for
  • ensuring the overall delivery of quality services to IRC staff members as regards personnel administration, including; Maintaining a thorough knowledge of IRC personnel policies and assure employee adherence to personnel policies; ensuring IRC is in compliance with all labour laws, and minimization of legal exposure; participate in review of policies and procedures and making recommendations.
  • Salary and benefits administration, including; Managing all statutory deductions and act as the focal point for any issues arising; Coordinate insurance benefits provider selection process yearly; Manage all insurance benefits contracts and assure high quality coverage for staff.
  • Recruitment, staff training, and office management; including; Coordinate the recruitment processes ensuring compliance to hiring policies and procedures, and that best practices are followed and documented.
  • This position also serves as focal point for all IRC external support as regards human resources and conference organization as well as providing Field Support to Kakuma, Lodwar and Daabab Camps in Kenya.
Job Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management or HR Management.
  • At least 5 years experience in personnel administration, preferably with a development or humanitarian international organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly, coupled with ability to influence, advise, and train on human resource issues, and act as an agent of change.
  • Demonstrated people skills.
  • Good writing and organizational skills
  • Excellent computer skills and experience working with payroll packages.
  • Cultural and diversity sensitivity, commitment and an understanding of the values of IRC and the principles of equal opportunities.
Pharmacist Assistant

The position will be based in Hagadera Refugee Camp - Dadaab.

Job Summary:

Working under the guidance and supervision of the Pharmacy-in charge, the Pharmacist Assistant is responsible for the running of the medical stores and hospital pharmacy.

S/he will be specifically be responsible for:
  • monitoring and supervising the medical stores assistants and refugee staff to ensure all pharmaceutical and ethical protocols are observed;
  • Keeping accurate records of purchase, delivery, requisition, supply and consumption of drugs, medical supplies, equipment, stationery and hardware items;
  • Ensure timely supply of drugs and medical items;
  • Prepare and submit regular inventory reports and requisition orders in time to avoid unnecessary delays in the purchase and delivery of the same items;
  • Furnish the clinicians, prescribers with weekly list of available drugs and advice them on prescribing trends accordingly;
  • Carry out regular pharmacy Quality Audits in all the dispensing units;
  • Identify the less utilized and short expiry commodities and advise the prescribers accordingly;
  • Participate in training of refugees incentive/support staff.
Job Requirements:
  • Diploma in Pharmacy from an approved medical training institution and be enrolled to practice by Pharmacy and Poisons Board;
  • Have 2 years post-graduation working experience in a busy hospital set-up preferably in a non-governmental organization.
  • Able to work with communities of diverse cultures.
