Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the above Fixed Term position in the Supply Section of UNICEF Kenya Country Office.

Purpose of the post:

Under the general supervision of the Chief, Child Protection, the incumbent provides oversight of the monitoring of and reporting on UNICEF’s programmes; identify gaps in children services; and strengthening coordination of the emergency child protection programmes in the Turkana area.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The staff will be responsible for administering and monitoring UNICEF supported child protection activities in the Turkana area in the following manner:
  • Identify gaps in children services and alternative courses of action to accelerate/improve programme delivery in line with UNICEF overall strategy in the Turkana area.
  • Ensure effective implementation of programme support for UNICEF child protection actions in Turkana and manage and monitor PCAs with NGOs.
  • Facilitate and support strengthening of child protection coordination for Lodwar.
  • Ensure regular SitReps to be presented to the chief of child protection in Nairobi and contribute to quality donor reports as well as mid-year and and annual reports.
Required Qualifications:

Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Law, or related technical field specifically pertaining to protection issues affecting children and women.

  • 3-5 years of emergency experience, preferably with exposure to both UNICEF and UNHCR protection and child protection.
  • Refugee camp experience highly desired.
Advanced knowledge of programming for IDTR, psycho social support, GBV prevention and response and other child protection interventions.


Fluency in written and spoken English; Experience working in region are assets.
